Hello Internet and welcome back to the Outland 17 developers Blog. Prepare for an expositional feast upon gameplay design. Outland 17 is a blend of roguelike, RPG, and turn based elements. But the kernel of gameplay is based

around the Roguelike elements of perma death and randomized loot and space. For those less familiar with this ancient niche and now less niche genre, Extra Credits does a great video that you can find here.

Explored over and over, and every choice and decision may lead to amazing rewards, or a devastating loss if unprepared.

Balancing perma death has been a major topic of discussion for our design team. Players will find themselves developing a characters skills and relationship only to see them sacrificed to the cruel machine of war.
